Race Organisation

RRS 2005-2008 appendix E will apply.

There will be a five minute warning before the countdown for the first race. At the end of the race the winning skipper will be responsible for recording the finishing positions for all yachts. The five minute timer will be activated as the last yacht finishes. If all are agreed, the countdown for the next race may be started before the five minutes has elapsed. Boats may be launched at any time in a race except between the one minute signal and the start.

Finishing points will be awarded on a 1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd etc basis. Lowest total score wins.

Tie breaks will be decided by sail off or count back of the greatest number of highest places.

A yacht starting but not finishing (DNF) will score one more point than the entry.

A yacht not starting (DNS) will score two points more than the entry.

Disqualification (DSQ) will score three more points than the entry.

Protests

Races will be sailed without judges. Infringements SHOULD be resolved between the yachts involved before the end of the leg on which the incident took place. If a protest is not resolved before the end of the race it MUST be resolved before the start of the next race (see Race Organisation). If a protest is still outstanding at the start of the countdown for the next race or after the five minutes following the last race, all yachts involved in the protest will be awarded additional points equal to halve the entry (rounded up). It is not necessary for a yacht to be involved in an incident to make a protest.

Annual Trophies

Competitions for which two or more yacht enter will be accepted for points towards the annual trophies.

Points are awarded for qualifying events (see Calendar) by the following formula:

[entry] - [finishing position] + 3

Points for the event are for a competing yacht. Skippers sailing more than one yacht in a class must accumulate annual points separately.

An IOM competing in an RM race will count towards the RM trophy.

An RM competing in an IOM race will count towards the IOM trophy, however the points will score -2.
